Ideas

OK people. I know it's been a while, and I hate to ask you for things when I've been such a bad poster, but I beseech you: I need second date ideas.

Things to keep in mind:
-I'm not overflowing with wealth. Reasonably nice meals are a go, but renting helicopters is out.
-I don't drink. So while going for drinks might work in theory, it might be creepy for me to hand her a Jack and Coke while I sip my Shirley Temple.
-A date which stimulates conversation, or requires some non-talking time would be great. I'm not so good at keeping the conversation flow going until I get to know somebody better.

And ... brainstorm!

If keeping conversation going is a problem, you should choose an activity. A museum is a great idea, not free (like in DC where I am), but not crazy expensive. If you go during a weekend day you can combine with lunch and drinks won't be an issue. A movie is a good second date--and you can talk about the movie afterwards. A walk or a bike ride--probably a weekend day activity, but a walk in the evening after work, in a nice park or interesting neighborhood is an option during the week. Silly but fun: roller skating or ice skating (better when it's cold outside, meaning never for you). The zoo. Fringe theater.

Hope that helps.

Scooter ride. You can't chat a lot with the wind rushing by.
Board games or pub quiz. Ready made conversation.

how about bowling? there are moments of activity and non-talking time. you can either encourage each other on, tease each other or even trash-talk if the chemistry is right. and you don't have to be good at bowling; it's fun even if you suck. plus, you can check each other out when it's not your turn. :)

or maybe a ferry ride to & lunch in sausalito? (that's something i've been meaning to do myself...)

how about games at the Musee Mecanique and lunch at the new Boudin Bread Museum?

flying kites or wood planes and a picnic in Dolores Park, followed by ice cream at Mitchell's? (are they still playing movies outside at Dolores?)

hope that helps! good luck!

I say bust out the testicle story asap. That's your best material.

OK, I've got nothing. I like all the outdoor suggestions, though. Carnivals/theme parks are always fun, and they provide lots of excuses to snuggle. Unless you're a barfer, of course...

if you go bowling check the temperature outdoors. I did this recently and it's HOT in the yerba buena bowlarama.

My vote for a second date...fly a kite? Who doesn't love kite flying? Go to the Marina where the wind is out in full force.

Good luck.

you could see Matthew Barney's movie at MoMA. It plays at 2pm daily for free, and at 6:15pm on Thursday.
It's reeeeeeeeally weird so you'd have a lot to talk about, and there's a big exhibit related to the movie upstairs if you want to actually go into the museum. And you could go to A.G. Ferrari Deli afterwards which is right around the corner, not too expensive but shows you have good taste. And you can get your fancy italian sandwich to go and eat it in the Yerba Buena park.
